Cold Sparks

Step 1 - Fountain Quantity

  • A Cold Spark Machine / Fountain is a vertical spark simulation that delivers up to a 10ft sparkler show. To achieve the simulation, granules are heated (despite the name) for illumination, and blown into the air by the machine. Granules do not get as hot as a spark, which is why they are dubbed "cold." A hot, uncontrolled projectile presents a significant safety hazard, particularly to flammable materials, which is why the majority of US states explicitly classify these devices as pyrotechnics.

Step 2 - Permitting

  • Please exercise common sense if you encounter unqualified operators or location owners that are unfamiliar with applicable state and local regulations. The untrained deployment of pyrotechnic effects, like Cold Sparks, presents serious safety risks and can result in immediate shutdown by the fire department or any authority having jurisdiction. A statutory breakdown is below. Additionally, general liability insurance policies typically exclude pyrotechnic activities, and fines, meaning any incident may not be covered. To protect the safety of your guests and the continuity of your event, pyrotechnics should only be handled by properly licensed, trained, and insured professionals.
